Christmas Preparations

David spent this Christmas Eve morning helping Mom make Santa’s cookies, and after a quick nap he’ll get to decorate them too.

He is pretty excited, even if he isn’t quite sure why.  On more than one occasion he has run up to me saying “It’s Christmas!”

This is going to be fun :)

Update: decorating has begun!

Christmas Tree

Last night Jay and Katherine came over for dinner, followed by a trip to Lowes to each get our Christmas trees. Their selection was pretty dismal, and Ana and I eventually bought the very first one we look at. Go figure.

So today we got the tree put up, and boy does David enjoy it.

These pictures took some experimenting to get, my first attempts at using the flash and keeping the backgound as close to its natural luminence.  Not too bad, I’m sure I’ll be getting alot more practice with as much as David likes the tree :)

A Thousand Words

Merry Christmas everyone!

For Christmas eve, Ana and I spent the evening at my parents’ with my sister’s family.  It was a lot of fun, we all had a good time.   I really like this picture from the evening, it kinda captures the chaos and fun of the gathering.  I laugh every time I look at it; even the poor dog looks exhausted.

For a quick summary of the photo – Dad and Ana are having a conversation while Emily (pink) is tearing into a gift of grandma’s that could hurt her (notice my mom cringing in the back left corner of the room).

An Open Letter to Jessica Long

The following is an email I sent today to Jessica Long, Justin’s wife.

 Dear Jessica,

Are you familiar with the Christmas story A Charlie Brown Christmas? Do you remember the tree in the story? Everyone but Charlie Brown hated it, and they hated him for getting it. But Charlie ignored all of the hatred and treated it with love and compassion. If you recall the ending of the story, everyone came around and loved the tree. It was truly a great story.

Now, I realize that you have come to love the POD Tree. But seriously, it’s the POD Tree. Not the Booth Tree. Give it back.
